Business Innovation Centre Asturias - CEEI Asturias

The European Business and Innovation Centre (BIC) Asturias is a non-for-profit association which lends its support to new entrepreneurs and start-ups, especially those of an innovative nature, in all phases of creation or consolidation of their project.

 

Business Innovation Centre (BIC) Asturias helps to foster an entrepreneurial culture and encourages the creation of new, innovative companies in the Principality of Asturias.

  • Guides entrepreneurs through the phases of analysis, definition, start-up and later consolidation of their project with sessions devoted to motivation and generation of ideas, training, technical advice, financing and accommodation.
  • Offers specific backing to creation of Innovative Technology Based Companies, encouraging transfer of scientific and technological know-how from the University and Technology Centres.

Technology Park of Asturias

The Park was inaugurated in June 1991, promoted directly by the Government of the Autonomous Region of the Principality of Asturias with the objective of promoting the innovation region activity. Nowadays, it is a consolidated business venue with around 120 companies and institutions employing more than 2000 persons in the information technology, engineering, technical consultancy and environmental sectors and also in the electric, plastics, renewable energies and chemical-pharmaceutical areas.

Located in a high quality setting, with a wide range of specific services for the installation of innovating companies and projects with a high technological component, the Technology Park of Asturias is marketed through IDEPA, the organization that evaluates the different requests and carries out diverse activities for promotion of innovation. The Technology Park of Asturias incorporates the Non-Metal Materials Technology Centre (ITMA), the Business and Innovation Centre Asturias (CEEI), the Information and Communication Technology Centre (CTIC) and is the venue for the principal public organisms of the region (IDEPA, ASTURGAR, ASTUREX, SRP, SRT) which allows companies and investors to benefit from the proximity of all those services designed to promote its competitiveness.

IDEPA-Economic Development Agency of the Principality of Asturias

IDEPA-Economic Development Agency of the Principality of Asturias is the Public Body, dependent on the Asturian Regional Administration, whose mission is to favour economic growth and generate employment in this autonomous region, by stimulating and providing support for business activity.

 

In order to achieve this goal, IDEPA offers services to business and entrepreneurs aimed at:

  • Favouring productive investment and the creation of new industrial enterprises and industry-related services.
  • Improving the competitiveness of companies through innovation.
  • Boosting the presence of Asturian business in overseas markets.
  • Furthering cooperation as an instrument of competitiveness.

Business Innovation Centre Galicia -BIC Galicia

It was created in 1991 by the Consellería de Economía e Industria, with an aim to boost and facilitate the entrepreneurial activity, create employment opportunitites and economic wealth in Galicia.
They are, together with IGAPE and XESGALICIA the active agents for public policies on issues of enterprise creation and support, new initiatives and competitivity strengthening.

eLearning Platform for SME

Grupo DEX participates in a consortium that today presented a bid to the RTD-T4-eLearningPlatform-2010 tender. The  "E-learning Platform for SME support networks and small and medium-sized enterprises facilitating SMEs' successful participation
in the Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development" was presented by Fraunhofer Gesellschaft. The consortium is composed by members of the smE-MPOWER network, EURESEARCH, the Higher Education School of Western Switzerland, Itycom, Ability Europe, SalsaDev and the Steinbeis Hochschule Berlin. The tender also counts with an advisory group that includes relevant actors, such as the Nokia-Siemens Netwroks and Cegos

A success story

The final results of the 2009 CEEI/BIC Asturias project show an impressive success story:

  • Ten companies have entered consortia that have presented a total of 13 project proposals
  • One of the proposals was approved and is already underway (Research for the Benefit of SMEs)
  • Five more projects were approved for financing and are now in negotiation (four within the Research for the Benefit of SMEs program and one EUROSTARS)
  • Three projects exceded the minimum score required for financing
  • One project reached the final evaluation in their call, reached by only two candidates

Evaluation process completed

The Research for the Benefit of SMEs call final balance showed a total of 256 project proposals that scored 11 or more points, which made them eligible for financing. Finally the top 132 proposals (scores 12,5 and above) have initiated the negotiation process. The remaining eligible proposals have been included in the reserve list

IAM-INNOVIA Project

I+DEX has collaborated with DEX Hungary in the preparation of the proposal "Intellectual Assets Management for Innovative Network oriented Entrepreneurs" -IAM INNOVIA.
The project was presented to the FP7-SCIENCE-IN-SOCIETY-2010-1 call by a consortium of partners from 11 countries that included the European Economic Interest Grouping DEX New Europe.
