The Innovation Catalyst

Vision: from 'business advice' to 'innovation catalysis'

Many a consultancy has specialized in providing business advisory services, assisting small and medium enterprises to understand, assimilate and participate in innovative and collaborative initiatives with an aim to increase their competitiveness.
Identification of those services with big companies' needs and costs has traditionally prevented SMEs from using them.
In later years development has led to an increasing presence of coaching companies: a more "informal" approach to the needs of smaller enterprises, characterised by:

  • higher degree of customization -solutions are more adapted to the reality of the company
  • working at a level close and personal -making the coach a team member that understands the company as only an insider would
  • de-dramatizing the advice, which is given in a more interactive and participatory manner -leading to better understanding and assimilation by the client's staff
  • increased awareness of the financial reality of SMEs
  • flexibility: covering all aspects of the innovation process, from a business plan or the development of a new business idea, to the international collaborative project, through the strategic associations or sources of public and private funding
  • keeping an on-going focus on innovative processes within the company as an adaptive or creative strategy to new market niches
  • creating new opportunities and enhancing them by exploiting synergies at all possible levels

As and "adopted" team member, the work of a coach may best be described as being an innovation catalyst:
